I always tell my friends or new photographers not be be afraid of their camera!  Try out everything… you won’t break it and you will discover some cool stuff!  Just play around, break the rules, make art that looks good to you and don’t worry about what others are shooting and making.  You don’t have to have a photograph that is in focus to be beautiful right?  Would you agree?  This was one of my favorite shots from my past weekend in San Francisco.  Yes I took plenty of shots that were in focus as well but you see tons of those everywhere.  This is a new look at the Golden Gate Bridge.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you all rang in the new year surrounded by friends and family.  Sorry my Wednesday Wallace is one day late:( I had a fabulous new year and I could not be more excited to see what 2012 has in store for me and Katelin Wallace Photography.  I was so blessed this year to have so many wonderful bride and grooms.  I have become friends with each and everyone of you and I feel so honored to have been able to take a part in each of your weddings.  I love what I do and I couldn’t do it without all of you!  Also, a BIG THANKS to all of my families out there with little ones that I have let me be a part in documenting everything from the silly fun laughs to the childish screams to the sweet hugs and kisses!  Like I mentioned I am SO THANKFUL for what God has given me this past year and I am grinning ear to ear with excitement for 2012!  There were so many amazing couples and families this year and I have posted about everyone of you!  Here are just a few pics that pop out to me from 2011…

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!  I love this time of year.  The colder weather, the lights, the chocolate peppermint treats, the smell of pine trees and family and friends getting together.  Also, the true meaning of Christmas and celebrating Jesus’ birthday!  Without Christmas there would be no eternity for me!!

Here is a little quick and easy way to splash your home with some Christmas decor!  I made this last week and it only took 10 mins before it was hung.  Here is all you need: multiple pieces of fabrics braided together, 2 nails, a hammer and as many ornaments as you’d like! Done and done.

{One Big Happy Family}

Meet the Sickings!! They are one big fun family and they are continuing to add to the group with 2 more on the way!!  We had a fun shoot at one of the families’ home.  It was such a neat property and the house had so much character.  We even took some of the old chairs, large and kid size, outside for some photos.  (I am in love with the miniature kid chairs!!) This was a fun shoot filled with energy and lots of giggles.  There were 4 generations there!!  Grand kids, kids, grandparents and great grandparents!!! So neat to see a family so close.  Makes me miss my grandparents dearly.  Now don’t think for a second that these great grandparents were slowing down the shoot.  It was the opposite!  Great grandpa was cracking jokes and making his woman smile with his witty humor.  Even more giggles were coming from Olivia and Lily who are best cousins and friends at just 18 days apart!  Needless to say it was a super fun shoot and a great way to start my weekend!  Thanks Sickings, can’t wait to see you all again in 2012!

Olivia, Liberty and Lily!

Maybe my favorite photo of the whole day!

At just 18 days apart these two cousins are best buds!!

The girls’ grandma made these amazing Christmas dresses!  So talented Jan!!

Olivia is going to be a big sister!  Another one is on the way and coming this January!!

Best looking great grandparents in town!

See you later Alligator:) Best ending to a blog post!!

{Katie + Matt}

There is no better way to start of my Saturday morning then with a cup of Starbucks coffee and an engagement shoot at the circle!  That is exactly how we started our shoot with Katie and Matt.  We headed down to the Orange Circle and cruised around with coffee and took tons of photos.  It was actually the day of the Christmas tree lighting so the streets were blocked off and empty with tons of room to roam the around!  After we cruised the circle we ended the shoot at Chapman University.  The fall colors on the trees over there were so perfect for  a soft colorful background.  Katie and Matt were so relaxed and we just had fun taking pics.  I am super excited for their summer wedding at the Surf and Sand in Laguna Beach.  I have know Katie for years, starting with club soccer teams, then onto volunteering at the YMCA summer camps and finally heading to the University of Arizona.  It is crazy to think that we are Wildcat Alumni!  The word Alumni just makes me sound old :/

One of my fave pics of the day!

I love this shot!

I loved Katie and Matt’s clothing choices!  Katie is an avid Anthropologie shopper and both her sweater and black blouse are from Anthro!

I have been working on a few more non-traditional photo displays.  Just finished up this little wall in my house.  Used fabric, short nails, photos, polaroids, and clothes pins.  Easy as can be!  The book case is an old orange grove crate.  Mason jars are filled with candles and then just a couple of books and old cameras to top it off.

{Mr. + Mrs. Heath}

Introducing Mr. + Mrs. Heath!  Yep heath like the bar!  This was such a special wedding to photograph because the groom is a friend of mine.  Zach and I traveled to Ethiopia on a team together from Vanguard University a couple of years ago.  Just last year he popped the question to Amanda who he has been with since high school! They had a sweet wedding out in Rialto at Amanda’s church.  We found a beautiful park nearby and a great old field behind the church.  The two of them were beaming with smiles which made taking their photos pretty easy and truly genuine!   Congrats again Zach and Amanda!!!!

Aren’t these bouquets awesome? Amanda made them herself! She is a DIY girl!

My favorite shot of the day!

The first look… Zach was soooo excited!!

My favorite ceremony shot.

Elizabeth Stoker - AMAZING! I am tearing up looking at them :) What a beautiful day!!!!3.22.2011 – 10:27 am

Yay, I am digging this cold weather and I can’t wait for a little rain… as long as it avoids my photo shoot dates:) Although I am a sucker for hot beach weather (always a SoCal girl at heart) it feels more like Christmas time when the rain comes!  I have to admit I like to break out my fall boots and leather jackets too:) This photo below is one of my faves from forever ago taken with one of those fancy 3 megapixel iphone 3s… yep that’s right you can make a cool photo from just about any camera!

Rain boots, a shadow and a big puddle.
